Becca is Married – We are so happy for her!!
Rebecca Miller, who just recently became Rebecca Bakey, (an appropriate last name for a baker) is our Flavor Cupcakery team member in the limelight this week. She also happens to be another Flavor team member who is truly talented. This talent is not just in the bakery department! Rebecca also happens to be a talented singer, where she has sung as a soloist in a church for a year, and has also been trained in opera singing.
Rebecca started off her career with Flavor Cupcakery 2 ½ years ago. Prior to this she was a baker for Panera Bread Bakery. She applied to Flavor Cupcakery because she loved the cupcakes and was looking to work for a smaller bakery, which made unique products. She definitely thinks this was the right move for her and she has never looked back.
Her love of baking comes from her childhood. She spent many years baking with her mother and grandmother. Her mother, in particular, loved experimenting with recipes, and all the women in her family are big fans of the Food Network channel. Some of the things Rebecca liked baking as a child were eclairs, cookies, and cupcakes.
When Rebecca first started at Flavor she was doing prep jobs and making batters. She then learned how to make French macaroons and was involved in helping to create cupcake flavors. Some of the flavors she created were: Peanut Butter Tandy cake, Pumpkin Spiced Latte, Strawberry Margarita, Peach Cobbler and Peppermint Hot Chocolate. She is now a full time cake decorator at Flavor, and she is very happy and settled into this role. All cakes are different and take different lengths of time to decorate, but she has learned a lot on the job and is very happy with the way she can apply her creative talents to this job. She also emphasizes the strength of the team at Flavor Cupcakery. She says all of the bakers back each other up and can do things for each other, which gives them a sense of comradery.
Her career as a baker may not have been, as she had intended to go to college to major in opera singing at Westchester University. However, Rebecca realized after completing one year at college that she didn’t feel this was her true calling, and that her real career was at baking. Hence, this is where she is today. She still loves to sing and loves music, but would like to keep it as a personal passion and not a career. She has sung in church choirs and sang in school plays her whole life.
Rebecca is so excited to be recently married to the love of her life, Chris. Their wedding was a beautiful occasion! They are both beaming and looking forward to their future together. We here at Flavor luckily all get to be a part of her journey, and wish her nothing but happiness and success in her future.
